Cookies and storage

01 — What this is about

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. Local storage works the same way, but stays in the browser and is never sent to the server.

Only what the service strictly needs, or what remembers preferences you chose, may skip consent. That is the case for everything below.

02 — Essential cookies

• Session cookie: keeps you signed in. It expires after 7 days without a visit and renews while you use the site.
• Sign-in cookies: set for a few minutes while you sign in with Discord or Google, to secure it.

Without them, signing in is impossible.

03 — Preferences in your browser

Local storage keeps interface settings, for your comfort:

• The site language.
• Your board’s zoom and position, and the colours picked for notes and drawing.
• The chat state: open or closed, last channel viewed, messages already read.

This data stays in your browser until you clear it.

04 — Advertising cookies

The site is free and paid for by ads. A banner asks for your consent on your first visit; nothing is stored or loaded before you answer.

• If you accept: the Google AdSense script is loaded and stores cookies to show and measure ads, and to cap how often you see the same one. Their lifetime is Google’s to set (usually up to 13 months).
• If you refuse: no ad script is loaded, no ad slot is rendered, and the site works exactly the same.

No ad appears during a game, in the creation studio or in the game master console.

Your choice is remembered in your browser. You can change it at any time with the “Manage cookies” link in the footer.

05 — Third-party content

A game can embed a YouTube video. It loads in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), but YouTube may still store information in your browser when you play it, under its own policy.

Links placed on a board lead to other sites, which have their own rules.

06 — Staying in control

Your browser lets you view and clear cookies and local storage. Clearing preferences simply resets the interface; blocking the session cookie prevents signing in.
